Couples - 2025

“Couples” is a series of paintings started in 2025 that features two figures on fields of abstract colors and shapes. This series was informed by ideas of support and partnership and portrays figures holding hands or having some other a physical connection. A common motif in these works is the archway used as a framing device to stage the figures, similar to the formal devices used in wedding portraiture. Other motifs are stylized landscape features such as roads or paths leading from the figures.
